Twilight

Crepuscular animals rouse to their senses,
stimulated by the gloaming light.
As the dusk settles in, I stand in a doorway,
and welcome the approaching night.

I am caught in the fleeting moments
between sun, moon and star;
none of them are anywhere near me,
all feel thrillingly not too far.

Day passes her baton to the night,
who swiftly falls to the ground;
as the moon glows and stars appear,
as the sun keeps going around.

In those obscure hours of evening,
both worlds seem to hold sway;
and the creatures belonging to neither,
luxuriate in shades of grey.
