Forward:
Welcome to BantaaKids, the section dedicated to the creative work of the youngest writers among us.
This series will predominantly feature short stories written by ESL (English as a Second Language) students from J.S.Worth’s creative writing classes back in the real world, where he works as an English teacher in China.
These classes begin with a writing prompt (featured below) to which the students plan, draft, and then produce a final copy all in the space of 2 hours.
We hope you enjoy reading their fantastic work and can appreciate the level of dedication these young writers have put into their studies, especially given how challenging it is to learn a second language.
Thanks
– J.S.Worth

Real Me
by Johnny
A boring day again! Go to school. Do my homework. Sleep. God to school…
“Ah! I hate this world!” I cried. Suddenly, I found a pair of strange glasses. They were shining! I thoughtt that the glasses were interesting, so I put them on. And then, I remembered some things about who I was! I was the God of Hong Huang!
I provided all things for it. But one day, a human came. He wanted to break everything I gave the people in Hong Huang. So we began to fight. I won, but Hong Huang became very strange, and I came to this world.
“Wow!” I came to Hong Huang and a very huge centipede found me! It wanted to eat me! I held out my hand and an iron blade came into my hand. And then I didn’t know how things happened, but that centipede died!
I felt very strange and took off the glasses. “WOOHOO!” I came back to the real world! But, all the strange animals came to this world too! I knew that I had to come to Hong Huang. That was my destiny!
So I put on the glasses again!
